Green cars are good.  But if you want a really green car, you should have a really good battery pack.  Today, hybrids use nickel-metal hydride battery packs.  These are pretty good but not as good as lithium-ion batteries.

Li-ion batteries are better because it weighs less than a similarly sized Ni-MH battery.  With hybrids designed to be as light as possible, it is good to have a lightweight battery.
