It was just recently when
Kia and the
National Basketball Association signed a joint venture contract making the Korean-based auto manufacturer the "Official Automotive Partner of the NBA".
The Auto Channel reported that Kia has expanded its affiliation with the world's number one league. The rising carmaker partnered with 16 teams which is more than half of the league's total squads. The basketball program presently signifies Kia's biggest U.S. sports marketing effort. It is also the company's first-ever direct participation with franchises from one of the four remarkable and major sports associations in the U.S.
Kia has been named an "Official Partner" of the following teams:
- Atlanta Hawks
- Boston Celtics
- Denver Nuggets
- Indiana Pacers
- New York Knicks
- San Antonio Spurs
- Seattle SuperSonics
The brand also was "Proud Partner" to the Charlotte Bobcats, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers.
Furthermore, Kia also is named the "Official Vehicle" of the former world-champions Miami HEAT.
